THE HUMAN BODY IS AN ARCHETYPE: Ojai Somatic Session
This one-day somatic immersion explores the body as a living archetype—a source of image, meaning, and inner knowledge. In contemporary life, our relationship to myth has become increasingly abstracted from bodily experience.
We tend to prioritize external images and ideas over felt sense, often losing contact with the body as a primary ground for perception and understanding.
This workshop proposes a return: to the body as process, as imagination, and as a generator of meaning.
Through guided movement lessons rooted in the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education, participants will engage in a “bodying” practice—reawakening the body’s capacity to form its own images, associations, and responses.
Rather than adopting imposed forms or external ideals, this work supports the emergence of a more personal, internally coherent way of sensing, moving, and living.
To live somatically is to live mythically: to experience one’s life as an unfolding, embodied story.
We will explore:
The body as a source of perception, imagination, and meaning
The relationship between movement, sensation, and inner imagery
How embodied awareness supports individuality and self-formation
What the body is communicating—and how to listen
